By accessing or using KnockLocal (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

KnockLocal is a hyper-local contractor directory that connects homeowners with licensed contractors in Southern California. We provide contractor listings, lead request forms, business claim functionality, and related features.

3. User Accounts

  • Contractor accounts are created through our business claim process, which requires email verification.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating an account or claiming a business listing.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Contractor Listings

  • Contractor information is sourced from public records, self-reported data, and third-party sources.
  • KnockLocal does not endorse, guarantee, or warrant any contractor listed on the platform.
  • Contractors who claim their listing are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide.
  • We reserve the right to remove or modify any listing that contains inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate content.

5. Lead Requests & Contact Forms

  • When you submit a lead or quote request, your contact information is shared with the relevant contractor(s).
  • KnockLocal is not a party to any transaction or agreement between homeowners and contractors.
  • We do not charge homeowners for submitting lead requests.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Submit false or misleading information.
  • Claim a business listing you are not authorized to manage.
  • Use the Service to harass, spam, or send unsolicited communications.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

The KnockLocal name, logo, website design, and original content are owned by KnockLocal. Contractor-provided content (photos, descriptions, etc.) remains the property of the respective contractors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • Contractor information is accurate, complete, or current.
  • Any contractor will meet your expectations or requirements.
  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Always independently verify a contractor's license status with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) before hiring.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KnockLocal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages resulting from hiring a contractor found through our platform.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KnockLocal, its officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Diego County, California.
